A trip? To the middle east? That's very cool... I'd love to visit the middle east one of these days :-). Maybe we can find some local tour guides :-). I hear there are a couple of local Israelis, who might be willing to offer their services :-). Till then....

Since we're back from our vacation, this site will be updated more frequently again! Well.... meaning as frequent as possible! Arno and Janine told us the're in Iran now, and email will probably NOT be possible during their stay in Iran. They are planning to stay about one month, so in the beginning of october FRESH new can reach us! Hopefully they're able to find a fax somewhere...!!

    Greetings to all!

Hi, This is a message from Arno & Janine currently camping on the parking lot of Petra historical site in Jordan. Our route has been changed drastically the past month which can be read in our travel reports under Day2Day. We just heared that the border between Yemen and Saudi has been closed because of the Valley Rift Fever. This prevents us from making the planned route through the arabic 'boot'. Currently we're busy making preps for a trip through Egypt and a possible backtracking trip to Oman and the Emirates. However the paperwork is massive and processing time-consuming (what's new :-)). Anyway we're enjoying ourselves to the max and all is Ok. Salaam! Arno & Janine

Hi, We're in Aquaba now for 5 days and have preliminary plans to visit Egypt. We will wait with crossing the red sea by ferry till the Arabic summit in Cairo on the 21st of october has been held. Depending on the outcome of this summit and the reactions in the Middle East we'll go further and head for Egypt. Else backtrack and head for Turkey again. The situation here is not that tense but the amount of tourists seems to decrease fast at this moment. We're doing fine, the weather is perfect and the corals overhere are stunning. Salaam! Arno & Janine

In dec.a.s. ben ik weer in Jemen.Wie weet?Masalaam.Bram(Ibrahim)

    Hallo MiddenOosten held!

We willen oversteken vanuit Sudan.

Loved your site. What a trek... well worth it. Your experiences in Iran were so exciting! Warm receptions from friendly strangers and exciting times on the highways! Thanks for sharing with everyone.

The reason I found your site was because I myself am planning a trip to the UAE from London by Car. I just recently moved out here from London, where I still have a car and belongings I would want to transport with me. It's an 93 Audi Avant with high miles. Not the brand new charriot you have but I'm sure it'll get me here.

I'm curious to know why you didn't venture into Saudi Arabia... did you have problems getting permission into the country?

    Best regards, Armando

I will continue to do my research and hopefully get back to you soon.

    Hi folks!

I just stumbled over your page! Great trip, hope you had a fabulous time! I need to find some time to read your Day2Day's... I assume you don't really need any GPS waypoints in the UAE, Oman or Turkey anymore... ;-) I could give you some if you want. If I manage to get down there again (spent 1 year in Abu Dhabi and am now 1 year in Adana, Turkey) I will ask for some of your waypoints...

    Take care, Ron

Were half of the world like you 2, we wouldn't have the problems we do have now. Such a will to understand, to be there and do it seems to me to be absolutely fantastic! I can't help feeling attracted towards your travel and all it represents. I only wish to go in such adventurous trips myself (in a few years time)! I made some travels so far (with a very limited budget) and they turned me more tolerant(but at the same time more selective). The "problem" is that once you start independent travelling, you can't stop it! My congratulations for the nature of you (unselfish) accounts! Keep on doing it for everyone's sake!

What an awesome trip! I spent a fantastic (albiet too short) 3 months backpacking through Turkey, Syria, Jordan & Egypt myself in 1997 and enjoyed seeing your experiences in the places I'd visited myself. My favourite part though was definately your time in Yemen, somewhere I hope to get to one day. You really bought it to life and I have to be honest, I couldn't tear myself away from the computer until I'd finished reading it. I also very much enjoyed the photos (I'm a keen photographer myself) and was wondering what camera/film you used on your trip. Thanks again for putting together such an awesome momento of your trip. Hello together,

because I found no contact adress, I write this in your guestbook and hope you will find it:

Sometimes we found a link from your page in our statistics and then we found your big link collection: Very nice. I will add it on our pages if i have time. In your database I found two little wrong data: Our journey (www.afritracks.de) finished in May 2003 (not in 2001) and the trip of our friends Tanja and Markus (www.steppenteufel.de) started in May 2003 (not in future). They crossed Asia and Australia already and will reach Africa in a few weeks. Thanks for the link. Greeting from Ulm Sabine
